Huntington Police Department at Full Force

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Huntington Police Department welcomed two new members to the force Thursday afternoon.

John Colyer, of Genoa, and Christina Trembley, of Huntington, were sworn in during a ceremony in City Council chambers.

This is the first time in several years the department is at full force with 106 officers.

Trembley says becoming a police officer is her opportunity to give back. "My community has been wonderful as far as helping me out and helping me here so, I'd like to be able to do that back for them."

the new officers will now attend a 16-week basic police training session at the West Virginia State Police Academy in Institute

Following the training, the officers will return to Huntington for assignment.
