HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man has been arrested and charged with stealing a purse from an elderly woman outside a Huntington grocery store.
Jonathan Hardiman, 28, of Huntington, was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree robbery.
Huntington Police say the incident happened on the parking lot of the store at 1st Street and 6th Avenue on January 12.
According to the criminal complaint, Hardiman approached the victim in front of her parked car, then grabbed her and swung her against her car.
The victim then tried to defend herself but was overpowered by Hardiman who took off with her purse.
The 79-year-old victim suffered minor injuries. The attack was captured on the store’s surveillance cameras according to police.
Hardiman is being held in the Western Regional Jail.
The purse snatching happened about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of store on 6th Ave. in Huntington.
Police say the suspect did get away with the purse. The woman was not hurt.
