UPDATE: Incident Involving Boone Deputy Under Investigation

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- New details are being released surrounding a Boone County Sheriff's deputy and a violent incident outside a gas station.

South Charleston Police tell WSAZ.com an initial report explains the deputy, his wife and another man were arguing outside the Exxon station at the Southridge Shopping Center Sunday. It then became physical between the deputy and the other man, according to police. A witness tells WSAZ.com the deputy was choking the man.

The incident ended when police say the deputy got into his cruiser and rammed the car the man and the deputy's wife were in. Police say there was no damage to the cruiser and the car only suffered minor damage.

Boone County Sheriff Rodney Miller says an internal investigation has been launched into what happened. The deputy's name has not been released just yet. Sheriff Miller says the deputy is on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

South Charleston Police say neither side wants to press any charges. Detectives are trying to obtain surveillance video from the gas station to get a better idea of what happened.

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police are investigating an incident involving a Boone County Sheriff's deputy.

South Charleston Police tell WSAZ.com a Boone County deputy's cruiser was involved in a crash near the Exxon at the Southridge Shopping Center Sunday.

Boone County Sheriff Rodney Miller says an internal investigation has been launched into what happened.

A witness tells WSAZ.com they saw a cruiser ram another car. It's still unclear whether or not any criminal charges will be filed against the deputy or anyone else.

South Charleston Police are expected to release more information about the incident on Monday.
