NEW INFO: Escaped Inmate Back in Jail

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) -- An inmate on the run decides to turn himself in.

Steven Rogers,21, escaped from custody on the way back to the Floyd County Jail after a court appearance on January 6.

He turned himself in to police over the weekend.

Rogers originally faced kidnapping charges, but now faces escape charges..

Rogers was arraigned Tuesday afternoon on the escape charge. Bond was denied.

A preliminary hearing is set for January 25 at 1:30.

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Dispatchers in Floyd County say an inmate escaped from police custody in Floyd County, Ky. is still on the loose.

Dispatchers say 21-year-old Steven Rogers escaped Thursday and is still on the run.

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- An inmate has escaped police custody in Floyd County, Ky.

Jail officials say 21-year-old Steven Rogers escaped around 2 Thursday afternoon.

He was being transported back from court when he escaped.

Witnesses say he took off his inmate uniform and shoes.

Rogers was originally arrested Wednesday night on kidnapping charges.

A manhunt is underway in the Prestonsburg area.
