Investigation Underway After Inmate Death

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Oh (WSAZ) -- An investigation is underway over the death of a Lawrence County Jail inmate.
Sheriff Jeff Lawless says a male inmate complained of being sick early Saturday morning and an EMS crews was contacted.
He says the inmate was then transported to St. Mary's Medical Center were he later died.
Lawrence County Coroner Dr. Kurt Hofmann says the body will now be sent to Franklin County for an autopsy.
The sheriff says he does not suspect any foul play.
The death is still under investigation by the Buckeye State Sheriff's Association.
