Kanawha Co. School Board Approves Purchase of 500 iPads

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Some students in Kanawha County will be getting to use some new gadgets in class.

School board members on Monday night approved the purchase of 500 new iPads for the Summer Critical Skills Program. It consists of several days tutorials with math, English and science for third- and eighth-graders.

School board President Pete Thaw said this is the county's first big purchase into cyber learning.

Board members say the purchase will cost more than $229,000.
