KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Millions of dollars will be going to improvement projects at schools across Kanawha County.

The Kanawha County Board of Education approved the $238M budget for next year.

Board members allocated $21M for school renovation projects, and another $46M was put aside for nutrition and special education programs.

School officials say they are concerned about federal funding cuts that could be coming in the near future.

"We will continue to do our best to stretch those dollars. We'll work within the money we have. Although I can say, if continued cuts come, um, at that level, along with some inflationary costs in some other issues, it could um, it could hurt the budget tremendously," said Kanawha County Superintendent Dr. Ron Duerring.

The budget year starts on July 1.
