KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office has responded to a threat at Freedom Industries.

The Sheriff's Office says a man called the company just before 2 p.m., saying he was on his way to the company "to teach everyone there a lesson."

Sheriff's deputies are on scene and say as of 3:30 p.m., no one showed up to fulfill the threat.

At this time the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office will keep resources there to make certain investigators from other agencies are able to safely complete their jobs, and insure the safety of the employees of Freedom Industries.

Freedom Industries is at the center of a chemical leak that has placed nine West Virginia counties under a state of emergency.
