WSAZ Exclusive: Local Conservative Woman's Twitter Pictures Go Viral

NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A woman from Nitro has created an internet uproar after sharing beliefs about some hot political issues.

Holly Fisher, a Christian mother of three, made posts expressing her conservative views that have garnered tens of thousands of comments. Some are positive, and some are quite the opposite.

She says she’s even received death threats.

She says she's just proudly standing up for what she believes in, and she’s still a little stunned she’s received so much attention.

Fisher tweeted a picture of herself standing in front of the Hobby Lobby in Barboursville right after the Supreme Court's birth control ruling on June 30. In the photo, Fisher is also wearing a pro-life shirt with a Chick-fil-A cup.

"I checked later in the day and had 100,000 shares," she said.

Then on July 4th she posted a picture holding the Bible and a gun in front of an American flag.

Thousands of more comments flooded in, including threats against her and her family. Some pointed out similarities in the photo to an Islamic terrorist known as the White Widow.

Fisher says the similarities are a coincidence, and the comparison is ludicrous.

"It's definitely too far when someone is wishing your baby would die so there are less conservatives to worry about in the world," she said.

Her husband David, who’s in the military, says they have taken some extra security measures, but they don’t anticipate any of the threats actually materializing.

"She has a strong message,” David said. “A lot of people don't like to hear it. They're going to try to shut her up. Most of these people aren't serious. They're hiding behind their computers.”

Fisher says in a way, she has enjoyed the attention, and she hopes to use it to continue spreading a conservative message.

"For the most part it's amusing,” she said. “I enjoy it. I like that so many people are looking at me to be a voice for them and what they represent as conservatives, but at the same time, waking up, and another flood of hate messages, threats and lies about me, people twisting it, it gets a little exhausting."

Fisher says she’s done interviews on local radio stations all over the country and is scheduled to be on a national cable news program Wednesday morning.
