KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man is behind bars after leading deputies on a chase, on an ATV, for several miles.
Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies say they responded to a call Thursday afternoon at a home on Newhouse Branch Road, in Elkview.
The homeowner said someone stole a blue and white Polaris side-by-side ATV from the home.
While deputies were on scene, a friend of the homeowner called and said they saw someone driving his ATV near Cooper's Creek Road.
A deputy responded to the area and saw Michael Lloyd Paxton, 40, of Charleston, driving the ATV.
Paxton pulled over in a gas station parking lot, where he almost hit someone walking in the parking lot, then took off, according to investigators.
Deputies say he drove about four miles out Will's Creek Road, before crashing the ATV into a creek.
They had to use a stun gun on Paxton to get him in custody.
He was taken to the hospital to be checked out before being booked.
Paxton is charged with fleeing, grand larceny, breaking and entering, and receiving or transferring stolen property, all felonies. He is being held on $25,000 bond at the South Central Regional Jail.
