Man Arrested in Arson of Huntington Home

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man was arrested in an arson fire set Friday evening in the 1600 block of 6th Avenue, Huntington Police say.

Timothy R. Whitten, 33, is charged with first-degree arson.

The fire was reported shortly before 6 p.m. Friday. A witness told investigators about seeing someone near the home when it happened.

Police say Whitten was found nearby and confessed to setting the house on fire.

Whitten was taken to the Western Regional Jail.

The Huntington Fire Department quickly brought the fire under control. The extent of the damage wasn't immediately available.
