SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A Scioto County man was arrested in a burglary in progress in West Portsmouth, according to information from Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini.
Billy Mosley, 23, of West Portsmouth, was charged with burglary, theft, possession of criminal tools and receiving stolen property. He was taken to the Scioto County Jail; his bond was set at $25,000.
Sheriff’s Office deputies were notified Thursday that a strange vehicle was parked in the driveway of a home in the 500 block of West Gate Road. A caretaker for the homeowner also noticed an unknown man inside the home. The caretaker blocked the man’s vehicle in the driveway with his own vehicle.
That caretaker said he was able to keep the man at the scene until deputies arrived. Property taken from the home was found inside the vehicle the suspect was driving. It later was discovered that the vehicle had been stolen from Portsmouth, Ohio.
Donini credited the quick arrest to residents and law enforcement working together.
