PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) – A man from Scioto County has been arrested in connection with a theft of a semi in Maysville, Kentucky.
Corey L. Murphy, 27, of Stout was arrested after a Scioto County Grand Jury indicted him on a charge of receiving stolen property.
The Scioto County Sheriff says after the semi was stolen, the owner activated a GPS system on the truck. That signal showed the truck was around State Route 239 in West Portsmouth. Deputies, along with the Ohio State Patrol, searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
About a week later, a Scioto County Clay Township Deputy received information that a man was using cutting torches on a semi that was parked behind a residence in Hinkley Hollow.
The Sheriff says Murphy has been a person of interest in several other stolen semi trucks in the area.
Murphy is being held in the Scioto County Jail.
