HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man was arrested Wednesday in a robbery that happened early that morning at Clark's Pump and Shop BP station in the 600 block of 5th Avenue, according to a criminal complaint from Cabell County Magistrate Court.
Charles Michael Wentz, 34, of Chesapeake, Ohio, is charged with first-degree robbery.
Wentz is accused of entering the business and threatening a clerk with an unknown weapon concealed in a hooded sweatshirt pocket. The robbery happened about 3 a.m. Wednesday.
The man responsible fled the business on foot and possibly got into a white Chevrolet Malibu. Huntington Police pursued a car matching that description and arrested Wentz in the vicinity of 10th Avenue and 26th Street.
Police said they originally noticed a car matching the description of the white Malibu behind another gas station in the 1500 block of 6th Avenue.
Officers said video surveillance from Clark's Pump and Shop is among evidence collected.
Police say Wentz is also a person of interest in at least two other robberies and an attempted robbery -- all reported Tuesday at other businesses in the city.
Wentz was paroled just this month. He had been serving time for previous robbery charges. He also remains a person of interest in several robberies reported last year.
