Man Charged in Fort Gay Stabbing

FORT GAY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One man is behind bars and another in the hospital after a stabbing in Fort Gay.

According to the Fort Gay Police Department, Michael McCormick, 51, of Fort Gay, W.Va., is being charged with malicious wounding.

About 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Fort Gay Police were called to a home on Cass Street. When officers arrived, they found a man that had been stabbed in the side. By that time, McCormick had already left the scene.

According to FGPD, officers caught up with McCormick a short time later and arrested him in connection with the stabbing.

The stabbing is still under investigation, but the FGPD tells WSAZ.com that they believe it all started with a verbal argument.

The name of the man that was stabbed is not being released at this time. No word on his condition.
