UPDATE: Man Killed in Alleged Copper Theft Attempt; Name Released

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The name of a man that died during an alleged copper theft has been released.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, Dalton Newhouse, 22, of Oak Hill, died Wednesday.

Newhouse was found tangled in a high-voltage power transmission line. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators say the man and an accomplice were attempting to steal copper by using a rifle to shoot down high-tension power transmission lines.

Charles Raymond Norris, 22, of Oak Hill, W.Va., was arrested and charged with attempt to commit a felony, conspiracy to commit a felony and disruption of a public utility.

Newhouse's body was sent to the West Virginia Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man died Wednesday in an apparent electrocution in an alleged attempt to steal copper in the Berry Mountain area near Thurmond, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

The man was found tangled in a high-voltage power transmission line. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators say the man and an accomplice were attempting to steal copper by using a rifle to shoot down high-tension power transmission lines.

Charles Raymond Norris, 22, of Oak Hill, W.Va., was arrested and charged with attempt to commit a felony, conspiracy to commit a felony and disruption of a public utility.

The body of the man found at the scene was taken to the West Virginia Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

His name was not released, pending notification of his family.
