Man Rescued from Woods in Putnam County

The Hurricane Fire Department says the man was checking on his son, who was out hunting. The man slipped and fell and was unable to walk out of the woods.

HURRICANE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man was rescued from the woods Friday in Putnam County.

It happened on Sycamore Ridge South near Hurricane about 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The Hurricane Fire Department says the man was checking on his son, who was out hunting. The man slipped and fell and was unable to walk out of the woods.

Firefighters had to use an ATV and rescue sled to get him out of the woods and into an ambulance.

The man was taken to CAMC Teays Valley for treatment. Firefighters say he is expected to be OK.

His name has not been released.
