UPDATE 9/7/12 @ 6:25 p.m.
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for three men who they say took advantage of a good samaritan -- robbing him at gunpoint.
A late night drive down Coal River Road right outside of St. Albans took an unexpected turn for Joshua Hillman.
“I've never seen him sitting in a parking lot for no reason,” Hillman said.
He was talking about a young man in a wheelchair, who was sitting in the parking lot of what was once a grocery store. He appeared to be stranded.
“I always think if I was in that situation, I would give anything for someone to help me,” Hillman said.
So he turned around, parked his truck and walked over to the man to see if he needed help. It wasn't until he turned around when he realized they weren't alone.
“The guy came out of the bushes with a rifle pointed in my face,” Hillman said.
He says the man with the gun and another man threatened him -- demanding him to give his money to the guy in the wheelchair.
“When he grabbed the money he didn't grab it all, so I tried to slip what money I could back into my hand and back into my pocket,” Hillman said. “The guy with the gun saw me, put the gun straight to my head and said give him that other money too.”
After his cash was gone and his nerves were shot, Hillman made it back to his car and called 911.
“I try to be a good samaritan, but when something like this happens, I don't know that I'll ever do it again,” Hillman said.
