UPDATE: Man Threatening Suicide Closes Road

ELKVIEW, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man who wanted police to shoot and kill him has been arrested.

Deputies tell WSAZ.com he started making threats at his home on Wills Creek Road in Elkview Saturday evening.

State Police shut down the road as a precaution for public safety. It is back open.

Deputies tell us the man called a crisis hotline saying he took a large amount of drugs and wanted to be killed by a cop.

The suspect had guns in the house, which were seized by deputies.

This all began to unfold just after 8 p.m.Saturday.

Deputies have filed a mental health warrant against the suspect. His name has not been released.

ELKVIEW, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Deputies say a man was threatening to kill himself and is holding out at his home in Elkview.

Police tell WSAZ.com Wills Creek is closed to traffic because troopers say they're trying to protect the public.

Deputies say the man took a large amount of pills and drugs and was wanting suicide by cop. They say the man, who is in his 60s, did have weapons with him.

It all began just after 8 p.m. Saturday but what sparked the situation is still unclear.
