GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A man and a woman were arrested Wednesday on drug charges after a traffic stop in South Shore, according to a news release from the Greenup County Sheriff's Department.
Zachary Dorst, 27, of Portsmouth, Ohio, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of various controlled substances and trafficking of controlled substances.
Mattie Deniston, 30, of Portsmouth, faces a number of drug possession and trafficking charges.
Deputies say a young child and an elderly woman were in the car at the time of the arrests. As a result, Social Services was called to help care for them.
The South Shore Police Chief made the traffic stop about 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, and he was assisted by deputies. They found several pill bottles that contained oxycodone, hydrocodone, muscle relaxants and Xanax. A plastic baggie of marijuana also was seized.
Dorst and Deniston were taken to the Greenup County Detention Center.
Additional charges are expected.
