HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A man from Huntington faces several charges after troopers say he stole a $2500 ring from one pawn shop, and then tried to sell it at another pawn shop a short time later.

West Virginia State Police charged Jimmy Jackson, 21, with grand larceny, receiving and transferring stolen property, conspiracy to commit a felony, fleeing on foot and obstructing.

Troopers say the ring was stolen from a pawn shop in the 3000 block of Route 60 Saturday afternoon.

According to the criminal complaint, a Cabell County Sheriff’s Deputy was able to identify Jackson from surveillance video at the store a short time after the theft.

The store owner then called other pawn shops in the area to alert them to the theft. While doing so, the owner of a pawn shop in Huntington said Jackson was at his store trying to sell the ring.

When a trooper and a sheriff’s deputy arrived at that store they said, Jackson took off on foot. A foot pursuit ensued, and Jackson was final captured after slipping on icy grounds.

Jackson was arraigned on the charges Sunday.
