ATHENS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A Middleport, Ohio, man was sentenced to four years in prison for his role in a drug ring that prosecutors say is tied to a Detroit kingpin.
Clayton Ohlinger, 33, was sentenced Friday in Athens County Common Pleas Court after pleading guilty to Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity.
Prosecutors say Ohlinger was a Meigs County connection in the Detroit drug pipeline. The investigation into the Glouster drug ring in Athens County and the Detroit supplier eventually led to Meigs County.
Ohlinger was selling drugs in Meigs County that he obtained from Detroit to customers in the area, including those who traveled from West Virginia.
“Thanks to cooperative efforts of Middleport Police Department and the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, we’ve had another major breakthrough in shutting off the flow of illegal drugs into our region” Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said. “And we’re continuing to follow every lead and seek out every supplier. This investigation is not over.”
