HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A man from Milton has been arrested and charged with stealing 10 cows from a meat processing business in Ona.

Walter Hayes III, 37, is charged with five counts of grand larceny.

The cows, belonging to five different people, were stolen form Andy’s Custom Meats earlier this month.

According to the criminal complaint, some of the cows were found on a farm belonging to Hayes' father, the others were found at a stockyard in Mt. Sterling, Ky.

Investigators say the cattle were being put up for auction by Hayes.

The cows, valued at nearly $12,000, have been returned to their owners.
