Neighbor Alerts Mother and Son of Porch Fire

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An early morning wake-up call for a mother and son in Huntington Thursday morning. Flames broke out just before 7:00 a.m. on the family's back porch in the 2700 block of 4th Avenue in Huntington.

Firefighters tell WSAZ.com a neighbor had to wake up the mother and son, who are both okay.

A washer and dryer were inside the enclosed porch. Firefighters say they were smoking when they arrived on scene. However, flames eventually broke out. Firefighters were able to put out the flames shortly after arriving on scene.

Officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
