SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio, (WSAZ) -- U.S. 23 has reopened following a major accident involving an Ohio State Highway Patrolman.
The accident happened near the 4-mile marker in the Rosemount area about 6:50 a.m. Friday.
U.S. 23 was closed in that area for just over five hours.
Both drivers have been flown to a Columbus hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Lt. Karla Taulbee with the Ohio Highway Patrol tells WSAZ.com that Trooper Mike Keating was trapped for a while before emergency responders were able to get him out of his cruiser.
The accident happened just before 7 a.m. Friday.
Tpr. Keating was heading south towards Portsmouth when he noticed a car speeding in the northbound lanes. As Tpr. Keating turned around to catch the speeder, he collided with a red Monte Carlo that had pulled out of McDonalds, according to Lt. Taulbee.
An evasive maneuver made by Tpr. Keating just before the accident kept the accident from being much worse.
Both drivers have a broken arm and bruises and were flown to a Columbus hospital.
U.S. 23 in the area of the crash is expected to be closed until early Friday afternoon.
