ATHENS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- An Ohio University football player has been suspended from the team after being arrested over the weekend.

Mike Lucas, 19, was arrested after police say he and four other men attacked a freshman who had been sitting on a bench Sunday morning.

Lucas was charged with felonious assault.

He is a redshirt freshman offensive lineman from Chicago.

He is expected to face a judge on October 25 to determine if there's enough probable cause to send the case to the grand jury.

Team spokesman Tom Symonds says Lucas has been suspended pending the investigation.

Lucas had seen action in the unbeaten Bobcats' wins over New Mexico State, Marshall, Norfolk State and Massachusetts.

Ohio is ranked for the first time since 1968. They are currently number 25.
