CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (WSAZ) -- State Attorney General Mike DeWine says search warrants have been executed in an investigation into alleged painkiller trafficking in Circleville, Ohio.
Thursday morning, state and local law enforcement agencies raided seven locations and served 25 arrest warrants is what is dubbed “Operation Rollin’ Stone.”
Investigators say the suspected drug dealers were primarily trafficking prescription drugs like OxyContin and Percocet. A smaller percent of cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, and marijuana was involved in the investigation, according to a press release.
"This investigation began with the Ohio Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the Circleville Police Department," said Attorney General DeWine. "Ten months later, we have real results. 80 percent of the drugs involved with these suspected drug dealers were prescription pain killers being sold out of people's homes, inside their businesses, and on the streets."
"We appreciate this collaborative effort, which took months but netted big results," said Circleville Police Chief Wayne Gray. "Circleville is a safer place today."
"With this investigation, BCI has seized more than 54,500 prescription pills in the past year, valued at $1.4 million," said DeWine.
