PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- One person was arrested during a checkpoint in Portsmouth, Ohio on Halloween.

Portsmouth Police say the checkpoint was held in an area known to historically have a high number of OVI arrests.

During the three hour checkpoint Thursday evening, 345 vehicles passed through.

Only 12 drivers were stopped.

Of those, 11 were for licensing issues.

One arrest was made during the checkpoint. Robert L. Dingus, 28, of Oak Hill, Ohio was arrested for OVI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

His passenger, Siara Bennington, 24, of Aberdeen, Ohio was also cited for possession of marijuana.

Chief Robert Ware stated, "I am pleased with the results of the checkpoint as they are always a good opportunity for interagency cooperation and they do a good job of deterring impaired driving".

The Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted in the checkpoint.
