PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The driver of a car involved in a head-on crash that killed a passenger in his car has been indicted by a Scioto County, Ohio grand jury.
The fatal accident happened on State Route 73 just south of SR 104 on November 3, 2012.
The Ohio Highway Patrol says Michael Newman, 39, of Otway, crossed the center line, hit an SUV head-on and then slammed into a guardrail.
Casey Newman, 27, of Pebbles, a passenger in the car, was ejected in the crash. Newman died at a Portsmouth hospital.
On February 22, a Scioto County Grand Jury indicted Michael Newman on one count of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of vehicular assault.
Troopers say the driver of the SUV that Newman hit was also hurt in the accident.
The Ohio Highway Patrol says the accident on State Route 73 just south of SR 104 at about 6:30 p.m.
Troopers say a man driving a Kia Spectra crossed the center line and hit a woman driving a Ford Expedition head-on. The accident sent the SUV and the box trailer it was pulling into a ditch; the Kia Spectra slammed into a guardrail.

The driver of the car, Michael Newman, 39, of Otway was airlifted to Cabell Huntington Hospital.
The driver of the SUV, Pamela Johsnon, 56, of Ashland was taken by ambulance to Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Their conditions are unknown at this time.
