Pair Arrested Following Manhunt in Jackson County, Ohio

JACKSON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Two men are in jail following a nearly 5-hour manhunt in Jackson County, Ohio Thursday night.

Lt. Karla Taulbee with the Ohio Highway Patrol says the incident began just after 5:30 p.m. when a trooper spotted a pickup driving erratically on U.S. 35.

Lt.Taulbee says the driver, after passing the trooper, significantly increased his speed and eventually exited the highway onto Chillicothe Pike where he and his passenger ditched the truck and fled on foot into a wooded area.

A Highway Patrol plane and helicopter were brought in to help search for the men. Also assisting the the search were officers from the Oak Hill and Jackson Police Departments and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office

Taulbee says the passenger in the truck, Keton Clark 34, was captured about 7 p.m.

The driver, Paris Shropshire, 23, was arrested about 10:45 p.m. after being spotted by an off-duty Highway Patrol Officer.

Both men were taken to the Jackson County Jail.

Taulbee says a loaded handgun and some marijuana were found in the pickup. A black ski mask was found in wooded area where the passenger was arrested.

Shropshire is from Georgia and is charged with improper handling of a firearm and receiving stolen property.

Clark is from West Virginia and is charged with obstruction.

Both men were taken to the Jackson County Jail.
