Patrick Street Bridge Reopens After Accident

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Patrick Street Bridge in Charleston is back open to traffic after an accident Tuesday morning.

According to Kanawha County Metro 911 the Patrick Street Bridge was shut down about 11 a.m. after a tractor trailer struck a beam underneath the bridge.

A crew with the West Virginia Department of Transportation responded to the scene and inspected the bridge.

According to the DOT, the truck damaged a beam that supports the sidewalk on the bridge, but the rest of the structure was deemed safe by a WVDOH Engineer.

The bridge was closed about 30 minutes.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A busy bridge in Charleston will be closed until further notice.

According to Kanawha County Metro 911 the Patrick Street Bridge is shut down after a tractor trailer struck a beam underneath the bridge.

The bridge will remain closed until the Division of Highways can inspect it to make sure it was not damaged.
