LOUISA, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Dozens of people camped out in Kentucky for some much needed help.
Evelyn Spaulding used to watch TV and see all those people camped out in line for Good Friday deals. She thought they were crazy.
Monday morning, Spaulding found herself camped out at 1 a.m., waiting in line. She says she's not crazy -- just desperate.
"I need help" Spaulding said. "I knew I had to get here early because there's only so much to go around."
LIHEAP has $905,000 allocated for heating assistance in the five Eastern Kentucky counties. The counties that will receive the assistance are Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Lawrence and Greenup.
"It's first come, first served," says Office Manager, Delphia Fitchpatrick. "There's a need and we can see that with the line."
NE Kentucky Coalition hopes to get 300 people processed in its Louisa location by Monday afternoon. If the money hasn't been depleted, the office will be open again on Tuesday.
