HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- If you have a land line in Cabell County, you will be seeing an increase in your phone bill.

Thursday, the Cabell County Commission voted to increase the 911 phone tariff.

Residential accounts will see an increase of $1 per month and business accounts will see a rise of $2 per month for the first 16 lines. There will also be a minor raise on any additional lines a business may have on their account.

Currently, Cabell County 911 is working with a $2.8M budget. During the meeting, 911 officials stated that they have made major cut backs and feel that they are working on "bare bones."

The new money will go towards upgrades to enable dispatchers to receive text messages and video calls, as well as contracts for system maintenance. They also plan to set aside some of the funds for for future needs.

Cabll 911 officials stated during the meeting that they are hoping to lower the fees in the future if it is possible.

The commission voted unanimously to pass the increase.
