KANAWHA COUNTY, W.VA. (WSAZ) -- Two people have been arrested after a home invasion in Campbell's Creek.

Sheriff Deputies arrested Tonia Kay Blount, 26, of Charleston and Terry Lee Shamblin, 35, of Eskdale, Monday night.

Both Blount and Shamblin have been charged with Armed Robbery and are in jail, in lieu of $50,000 bond.

According to the criminal complaint, Blount knocked on James Chapman's door Sunday evening, asking for money. He invited her inside and she asked him to help her buy pills. When he said no, Shamblin came inside and started punching Chapman.

Deputies say Blount took Chapman's wallet and stole the cash inside. Shamblin then threatened to kill Chapman if he called authorities.

Both Blount and Shamblin will be back in court for preliminary hearings on December 20.

UPDATE 12/10/12 @ 4:47 p.m.
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- James Chapman, 66, was able to get away with minor injuries following a home invasion and robbery.

It happened about 5 p.m. Sunday at a home along Gap View Drive in the Campbells Creek area.

A woman who said her name was Tonya knocked on his door, asking for money. After letting her in, a man who called himself Terry rushed in behind her and attacked Chapman.

"And at that point he fell onto the floor, the suspect was on top of him continued to be pounding him, all the while as well stole his wallet," Kanawha County Sheriff's Capt. Sean Crosier said.

Chapman described Terry as about 30 years old. He has a slim build, dark hair with a goatee and tattoos on the back of his neck. Tonya is described as about 26 years old with blond hair.

Other people who live in the area are afraid they could be the next victim.

"I keep my door locked at all times because I don't trust anybody here. There are too many people up and down the road that I don't know, so I won't let them in if I don't know them," said a man who didn’t want to be identified out of fear for his safety.

The sheriff’s department says the motivation was robbery, and this type of crime is more common during the holiday season.

"Thieves mostly are cowards," Crosier said. "They won't target, number one, people that are going to give much of a resistance and, number two, people that are with somebody else."

Officers advise to make sure doors are locked at all times and not to even answer the door if you don’t know the person on the other side.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W. Va. (WSAZ) – Sheriff’s deputies are on the lookout for two people they say assaulted a man in his own home before stealing his wallet and taking off.

About 5 o’clock Sunday evening, a female knocked on an elderly man’s door at his house along Gapview Drive in the Campbell’s Creek area saying she needed money.

66-year old James Chapman allowed the woman, who said her name is Tonya, inside – and that’s when a man, who called himself Terry, burst inside and assaulted Chapman before taking his wallet.

Chapman was able to call police but did not want medical attention despite receiving some minor injuries.

Police say Terry was described as having a slim build, short dark hair, a goatee and is about 30-years old – and could possibly be Terry Shamblin.

Tonya was described as being about 26-years old with blonde hair – and her last name could be Blount.

Both people are wanted for questioning.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department.
