SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A Portsmouth, Ohio man is being charged with robbing the National Cash Advance in the New Boston Mall on Saturday.

New Boston Police say South Shore Police and Greenup County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 28-year-old Jeremy Hogsten several hours after the 11 a.m. robbery. He is being charged with receiving stolen property -- which was the money from the robbery.

Captain Steve Goins says that Hogsten robbed a National Cash Advance employee on the parking lot, as the employee was heading to the bank with the business money deposit bag.

Goins says two witnesses heard the victim scream for help and began chasing Hogsten who jumped into an SUV and fled the business. The witnesses were able to get the tag number of the vehicle.

An all points bulletin was put out for the vehicle following the incident. About three hours later, the SUV was spotted in South Shore. Police were able to stop it and arrest Hogsten. New Boston Police say a large amount of money was recovered from inside the vehicle.

Police say no weapon was shown or used in the robbery and the employee was not injured.

The arrest warrants for robbery were served on Hogsten Monday in the Greenup County Jail. He is expected to be extradited back to Ohio.

Also Monday, Scioto County Sheriff Detectives were able to assist NBPD in recovering other evidence from the robbery.
