CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Power crews spent the weekend preparing for the winter storm.
Several dozen vehicles were staged at the South Charleston Industrial Park. Power crews were from West Virginia, Tennessee and South Carolina.
An additional 600 workers were brought in to help out.
"The things that bother us the most during storms are the things that can bring down trees, and heavy snow and ice are things that can do that," Appalachian Power spokesperson Phil Moye said.
The main staging areas are in Huntington, Charleston and Withrow, Virginia.
In Huntington, a company from Tennessee was set up in Wal Mart's parking lot along Route 60.
More than 100 trucks were lined up. Hundreds of workers are standing by; ready to help at a moment's notice.
