HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Despite the anticipation of potentially tens of thousands of customers losing power in the region, the winter storm system that moved in late Sunday night and early Monday morning has caused only a minimal volume of outages in the WSAZ viewing area.
According to Appalachian Power's website, about 300 customers in Mingo County and about 130 customers in Kanawha County were without electricity as of 6:30 a.m. Monday. No other county in the WSAZ viewing area in West Virginia reported outages above the 100 minimum threshold.
For counties in the WSAZ viewing area in Ohio, only Scioto County, with less than 300 customers without power, reported any outages. No counties in the WSAZ viewing area in Kentucky are reporting any appreciable power outages.
