MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Prestera Center has received a grant to help them move forward with a men's recovery home in Mason County.
Prestera announced Tuesday that they have received a $125,000 grant from the West Virginia DHHR, Bureau for Behavioral Health and Health facilities.
The organization says there is a lack of recovery homes in Mason County, although the county is suffering from the drug epidemic.
According to a press release, "There has been almost a 300% increase in prescription drug-related overdoses deaths since 2001 in Mason County."
Prestera says the next steps in the project include securing a home large enough to house at least six men, renovations to meet State Fire Marshall standards and Office of Health Facilities, Licensure and Certification (OHFLAC) standards, finding furnishings, hiring staff and selecting residents.
They hope to have the project complete and operational in the next three months.
