IRONTON, Ohio (WSAZ) –The wife of a former Little League treasurer has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to stealing from the league.
Prosecutors in Lawrence County, Ohio say Sondra Gayhart, 49, of Ironton was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison and ordered pay $1000 in restitution to Ironton Little League.
Earlier this month Gayhart pleaded guilty to four counts of 5th degree theft and one count of 5th degree forgery. Prosecutors say the 40 other counts against her were dropped as part of that plea deal.
Investigators say between January 2010 and December 2011 she wrote and cashed league checks for more than $22,000.
The $1000 was the insurance deductible the league paid for theft insurance.
