Public Meeting Planned for Athens County Coal Mine

ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The Buckeye Forest Council says there will be a community meeting Wednesday about a proposed coal mine in Athens County.

Anyone who is interested in learning about a pending permit application by the Oxford Mining Company is invited to attend.

Last year, the company withdrew its permit to mine at Joy Hollow and they have resubmitted the application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

The meeting will be held at the Grange Hall in Amesville at 7 p.m.
