BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ)-- Hundreds of children in Boone County will now have at least one Christmas gift thanks to a handful of employees at the Wendy’s in Danville. Employees handed out presents to children in need.
“There so many kids around here that need stuff they don't get what they need,” General Manager Connie Harless said.
Harless tells WSAZ.com they started fundraising in early January of 2013. They rose more than $2,000, but also donated book bags, coats and boots for children.
The gifts were the result of a dozen yard sales and raffles throughout the year. More than 250 children were given gifts.
In order to receive a gift Sunday- children had to bring in a voucher from school. Employees tell WSAZ.com there were certain income guidelines that parents had to meet in order for their child to qualify for a gift.
