HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The inside of a Huntington church appears to have suffered little or no damage after the building’s roof was blown off Friday morning during a fast moving storm that hit the area.

The Open Door Baptist Church is located in the 1900 block of Madison Ave.

The gable roof and the steeple were ripped off in the storm and landed in a nearby street.

The building’s original flat roof appeared to remain intact, protecting the inside of the church.

We’re told 40-50 people attend the church.

19th Street between Madison and Adams Avenue is closed due to the roof debris.
