HUNTINGTON/CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Severe weather hit much of our region on Wednesday, downing trees, creating high water on some roadways, and knocking out power to thousands.

Lawrence County, Ohio, is among the places dealing with the latter. High water is reported near the Collins Career Center and on parts of County Road 36, where McKinney Creek was reported out of its banks.

In South Charleston, West Virginia in Kanawha County, high water was reported on parts of Rock Lake Drive late Wednesday night. It was expected to recede soon.

In St. Albans, police say there has been high water reported at the underpass at Washington Avenue and Washington Street.

Earlier on Wednesday, some trees were reported down in the Oak Hill area of Jackson County, Ohio.

Meanwhile, nuisance street issues were reported in Scioto County, Ohio, and in Boyd and Greenup counties in eastern Kentucky.

In Huntington, there were scattered reports of high water, which led to high water in the 10th Street viaduct on Wednesday evening. There were no immediate reports of any viaducts closed.

Early Wednesday afternoon, a tornado warning was issued for parts of Scioto County, Ohio, including Portsmouth, but there were no confirmed reports of a tornado reaching the ground.

The normally tame McKinney Creek rose well over County Road 36 near Chesapeake, Ohio.

Karena Hatfield and her boyfriend were watching television when a neighbor alerted them to how bad it had gotten.

"We looked out the window and our whole yard was flooded," Hatfield said.
