PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Going out of business sale -- the Scioto County Sheriff's Office is gearing up for its largest absolute auction ever.
It is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22.
"We're hitting the drug dealers where it hurts," Chief Deputy Todd Miller said. "The money raised in this auction will go into a drug task force fund to help us pay for what it takes to get drugs off the streets."
This auction includes nine cars, a fifth wheel camper, brand new TVs, video gaming systems, computers and tools that have never been opened.
Also in the auction will be a Craftsman YT3000 riding lawn mover with the tags still on it.
"It's a win-win for the department and the consumer," Miller said. "The amount of merchandise we confiscated should show the public we mean business."
The Scioto County Drug Forfeiture Auctions have so far netted the department roughly $60,000.
"It's money we use to make the streets safe," Miller said.
Auction purchases may be made by cash or check only.
