PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A mainstay of a local hardware store has gone missing, and now the store owners are trying everything they can to track their missing mascot.

Stanley is an employee of the Teays Valley Hardware Store in Scott Depot. His co-workers say he's lazy, he sits around a lot -- but everyone loves him.

The 22-pound cat was last seen on March 1 on the store's surveillance camera getting into a customer's utility trailer. The driver didn't know that Stanley had hitched a ride, and left.

So far, the owners have been able to track down the trailer -- but not Stanley.

"He was the Teays Valley Hardware Store greeter as this lady said, that was his job and the kids could occupy their time as mom and dad was shopping they could play with the cat," said employee Tom McCallister.

A reward is being offered for Stanley's safe return.

If you have any information about the missing cat, you are urged to call the hardware store.
