Shooting in Charleston Sends One to Hospital

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man is in the hospital after he was shot twice in downtown Charleston.

The shooting happened along Quarrier Street about 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Charleston Police say James Foster, 19, was walking down Quarrier Street when he was shot in the leg and arm. Foster and his girlfriend kept walking until he finally collapsed on Leon Sullivan Way. That's when his girlfriend called 911.

Police say Foster had just left a pre-MultiFest party when he was shot.

MultiFest is a three day multicultural festival that's held at the State Capitol Complex.

No motive for the shooting has been released.

Police tell, one bullet also hit the City Service Center on Quarrier Street.

As of 9 a.m. Friday, Foster was listed in satisfactory condition at CAMC General.

It happened in the 300 block of Leon Sullivan Way. Dispatchers say the person was shot twice in the leg.

No information on the victim's condition or a possible suspect were available.

The Charleston Police Department is investigating.
