UPDATE 3/15/13 @ 6:30 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A manhunt is underway as Charleston Police try to locate a dangerous shooting suspect.

Friday police raided several homes including an apartment on the 1400 block of Quarrier Street looking for Jon Paul Clements.

Authorities say Clements is one of the men responsible for Saturday's shooting on Washington Street West. Two people were wounded in that shooting.

Clements has a long list of arrests including domestic assault, battery and drug charges. Authorities say in the '90s Clements was a member of the City Park Gangsters gang.

"They have shown time and time again that they're willing to commit acts of violence and we now have video that proves that," Lt. Steve Cooper of the Charleston Police Department said referring to surveillance video of the shooting.

Police did not find Clements during the raids but did arrest his girlfriend Kimberly Swafford. Swafford was arrested for failure to appear in court on drug charges.

Clements is wanted for attempted murder and two counts of wanton endangerment and malicious wounding.

Police say Saturday's shooting was likely targeted but Clements is a threat to the public. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Swafford is currently being held at the South Central Regional Jail. She will remain there until her court appearance Tuesday.

UPDATE 3/14/13 @ 6:30 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Charleston man is now wanted in connection with the ambush-style shooting that happened on the West Side Saturday.

Police say they are looking for Jon Paul Clements. They say Clements is one of the men who fired off 60 shots during the shooting.

“Hopefully they catch him real soon but it's a frightening thought because someone who has the potential to hurt someone is still out there,” said 22-year West Side resident Mark Wright. “It's pretty scary.”

People who live close to the shooting say violence on the West Side is becoming more frequent and the area is becoming less safe.

“It doesn't surprise me in the least,” said Michael McGuffin who has lived on the West Side for 25 years. “There seems to be a lot of shootings. I mean from our house, we hear gunshots about once a week, if not more.”

Earlier this week, Robert Jared Smith was charged in connection with Saturday’s shooting. It happened on the 1600-block of Washington Street West.

Andre Williamson and Cierra Leftwich were wounded in that incident. Both suffered injuries -- but survived.

Det J.C. Webb with the Charleston Police Department says the shooting may have been retaliation for the murder of David Booker back in October.

Monday, Williamson was charged with being an accessory in Booker’s murder.

Earlier this month, Richard Hilliard pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in connection with Booker’s death.

Police say both Hilliard and Williamson were involved in Booker's death.

UPDATE 3/11/13 @ 10:40 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man was arrested Monday night in connection with a shootout Saturday outside a restaurant on Charleston's West Side, police say.

Robert Jared Smith was being arraigned Monday night in Kanawha County in connection with the incident.

Saturday's ambush-style shooting happened in the 1600 block of Washington Street West. At least two people were shot before fleeing the scene and later showing up at Charleston hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Charleston Police say the incident is believed to be in retaliation for a shooting incident that occurred in the unit block of Capitol Street last September, as well as the murder of David Booker on the East End of Charleston this past October.

As it turns out, Smith has a lengthy criminal history. He was convicted in federal court in November 2000 for conspiracy to distribute cocaine base, as well as aiding and abetting to distribute cocaine base.

His original sentence was for life in prison which was later reduced to about 405 months. He had since been released and is currently under Federal supervision.

UPDATE 3/11/13 @ 7 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One of the two people shot during a shootout in Charleston has now been arrested in connection with a murder.

Monday, police arrested Andre Williamson, a.k.a. "A3," in connection with his involvement in an October murder.

Police arrested Williamson as soon as he was released from CAMC. Doctors were treating Williamson after he was shot in the leg Saturday during a shooting on Charleston's West Side.

Williamson faces charges of accessory after the fact in the October murder of David Booker.

Earlier this month, Richard Hilliard pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Booker's death. Police say Williamson was involved.

Williamson is also charged with first-degree robbery and prohibited person with use of a firearm.

Williamson is no stranger to police. His charges date back a decade. In 2005, he was charged with the murder of Jody Gray. When no witnesses came forward, though, prosecutors dropped the charges.

Police say Saturday's ambush-style shooting was not random.

“We believe there were possibly three or four suspects based on the crime scene and the number of shots that were fired and the number of different calibers that were used,” Charleston Police Lt. Steve Cooper said. “We believe there was a good chance that he was targeted and it was from different angles and from different firearms."

Williamson is being held in lieu of a $50,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 19.

UPDATE 03/09/13 @ 4 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Crime scene tape and blood are still evident from an overnight shootout on Charleston’s West Side.

When the gun shots rang out, Freida Aldridge awoke in a daze.

"I heard all the shooting and everything, I said I thought maybe I was back in a western movie -- and they were having a cowboy shootout," said Aldridge.

That’s how police described it, too.

Investigators found more than 40 shell casings along Washington Street West. They say the bullets came from several weapons and several suspects.

"They found a massive crime scene," said Lt. T.M. Abbott of the Charleston Police Department.

Police say one person was shot in a doorway and then started shooting back.

At least two people were shot before fleeing the scene and later showing up at Charleston hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

"We believe that there's possibly people there on the hillside, that live on the hillside, that will probably be finding gun shot holes throughout the day," said Lt. Abbott.

Freida hasn’t found any bullet holes in her house, but a nearby business was blasted by stray bullets.

"I have never been bothered or anything, it's been very peaceful until last night," said Aldridge.

Police suspect the shootout was sparked by drugs.

Still, Freida says she won’t live in fear despite what unfolded outside her door.

"I feel this way about it: I've lived my life and I've lived for the Good Lord and if he's ready to take me home any way, if someone wants to shoot me or whatever, I'm ready to go home to heaven," said Aldridge.

Police are continuing to investigate and haven’t yet made any arrests.
