UPDATE 5/25/13 @ 10 p.m.
SOUTH POINT, Ohio (WSAZ) – A family woke up Thursday night to gunshots hitting their home.

"I was asleep,” Chet Collins said, “had been asleep approximately an hour, and my son came up screaming, telling me 'Dad, Dad, they're blowing the house up!"

Collins says someone opened fire on his home on County Road 407 in South Point about 11 p.m. and took off.

Collins believes the shooting was retaliation for his efforts to try to get his neighborhood cleaned up.

"The first couple times we said something, they threatened us,” he said. “They wanted to kill us."

Collins says he made numerous reports to police on his neighbors, who he suspected were dealing drugs.

"We noticed in the last four years since our new neighbors moved in, there've been 18, 20 people a day walking, 30, 40 cars a day here,” Collins said. “They want to get out here and park and walk back and forth to these people's house."

"To be retaliated against because they were trying to get this place cleaned up, it's bad," neighbor Christy Elk said.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department is looking for 42-year-old Timothy Powell in connection with the shooting. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Collins says even if an arrest is made, it'll be a long time before he gets a good night's rest.

"How many enemies do I have now?” he said. “That's what we have to live with the rest of our lives. When will we be able to be at peace again? I don't know that we will."

According to the sheriff’s department, Powell fled the scene on a red Honda motorcycle with Ohio license plate # 51VSD.

If you have any information as to the whereabouts of Powell, you are asked to call the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office at 740-532-3525.
