UPDATE: Small Fire at Kureha Started During Cleaning of Vessel

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A small fire in a Kanawha County plant started when crews were cleaning a reactor vessel.

The fire started about 5 a.m. Tuesday at the Kureha Plant in Belle.

C.W. Sigman with Kanawha County Emergency Management says a reactor vessel was being cleaned when some vapors splashed over and started a small fire.

The fire was quickly put out.

Three workers were taken to the hospital to be checked out. They returned to work later in the day.

Sigman says the chemical vapors involved are used in the plastic making process.

Sigman says the public was never in danger.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A small fire caused some issues at a plant in Kanawha County.

The fire broke out at the Kureha Plant in Belle just after 5 a.m.

911 dispatchers say the fire was quickly put out by crews inside the plant.

No word on where or how the fire started.
