PRINCETON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A W.Va. State Trooper is recovering after being hit by a car along the West Virginia Turnpike
The accident happened in the northbound lanes near the 15 mile marker about 5:15 Thursday morning.
State Police say Trooper D. R. White had parked his cruiser on the shoulder and had walked to the middle of the highway to remove some debris.
On his way back to the cruiser, he was struck by the passenger side mirror of a vehicle that then kept going.
Trooper White received injuries which forced him to crawl off the highway and back to his cruiser where he radioed for medical assistance.
He was treated and released from an area hospital and is still experiencing considerable overall pain, according to a news release.
State Police say White’s cruiser bar light, complete with directional blue and red lighting to alert motorists to move left, was activated at the time
